Proverbs 11:25 NKJV

“He who waters will also be watered himself.”

“WATERING THE KINGDOM”

I was watering the flowers when my water hose came apart. Although I was dripping wet, it felt good on a hot summer day. Solomon wrote, “He who waters will also be watered himself.” (Proverbs 11:25 NKJV).

This is a principal of Kingdom living, and as it often is, it is opposite our human nature. Many have discovered the joy of serving others first and finding themselves standing in an unexpected shower of blessings.

Solomon also wrote of the person who has an evil eye. He is described as a man who invites someone to lunch and then looks on with aggravation while he thinks about what this is going to cost him. The clouds that bring blessings to the generous begin to look stormy in the reflection of evil eyes. It is hard to enjoy the blessings when it appears that a storm is approaching.

The Lord loves a cheerful giver. “Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” (Luke 6:38)

Do you remember Rebekah? When the servant of Abraham was sent to bring back a wife for Isaac, he met Rebekah along the way. He was tired and thirsty. He was also praying for God to guide him to the right woman. Rebekah offered him a drink of water; then she generously and laboriously watered his camels.

That very act was the Lord’s way of saying, “I have chosen her to be the wife of Isaac. A beautiful love story began that day. It is true: The one who waters will also be watered.
