We Have a Remembering God

And God remembered Noah and every living thing… Genesis 8:1

I imagine that through the long storm, dreary days, and confinement to the inside of the ark, those amateur seafarers wondered if they had been forgotten. How much more could they endure? When they were at the end of their rope, “God remembered;” and God remembers you in your storms also.

God will never forget His own children. He saved Lot from destruction because He remembered Abraham (Gen. 19:29). Believers are saved because He never forgets the sacrifice of Jesus.

In life’s battles we are remembered: “…You will be remembered before the Lord your God, and you will be delivered.” Numbers 10:9

Our prayers, and the things that we do for the Lord are not forgotten: “Your prayers and your alms have ascended as a memorial before God” (Acts 10:4).

When John saw the throne room of heaven, he saw a rainbow that looked like an emerald surrounding the throne (Revelation 4:3). Its meaning is clear: We have a God who remembers. He said in Genesis that when He looked upon the rainbow He would remember His covenant. I once believed that the rainbow was to remind us that the world would never again be destroyed by a flood. It is so much more than that. When I see a rainbow, then I remember that God remembers.

Pat and I were to catch a train at Union Station in Washington DC. Not being experienced travelers we were a bit uneasy. A man said to us, be here at this location at a certain time and I will see that you get on the right train. We waited, but I wondered, “Would he really be back, would he remember the time, would he remember us?”

Not only did he remember, he took us out another door ahead of a long line, met the train as it pulled into the station, got us on board and sent us on our way. If a stranger can do that for two lost travelers; just think what God can do for us lost souls. “JESUS, REMEMBER ME WHEN YOU COME INTO YOUR KINGDOM.”

Grace and Peace, Rev Ray
