We Shall Behold
“Men of Galilee,” they said, “why are you standing here staring into heaven? Jesus has been taken from you into heaven, but someday he will return from heaven in the same way you saw him go!”
“Acts 1:11”
Last Saturday evening the Starlink satellite train was supposed to fly over Kingsport at 8:54. It would come out of the west going southeast. Pat and I went out and watched the sky and were not disappointed. We watched for about five minutes until the long row of lights passed over us, and then went out of sight.
There are few things that are as joyous as going to the airport to greet a loved one who is coming home after a long absence. Looking at the arrival time, and seeing that the flight is “On Time” makes the heart smile.
The disciples were gazing into the sky for the last sight of Jesus as he ascended into Heaven. Suddenly, an angel spoke, “He will come back as you have seen him go.” Are we watching the sky?
Have you checked the Bible to see that although we don’t know the arrival time, we know that the flight is on time. The greatest joy in the world is to know that we are ready to meet our coming Savior. And should I leave this earth before that day, I have a home prepared with the Saints above. Either way, I will behold the glorious face of Jesus.
Eternity is real, we are prepared to meet the Lord, or we are not. Jesus came, died, and rose from the grave. If we are willing to believe, and live a believer’s life of trust and obedience, we will not be disappointed.
When Pat knows that company is coming, she gets everything ready, but then, she works every day to make sure that our home is never “unready” for welcomed guests. Isn’t that the heartbeat of the Gospel, to always be ready, because in an hour when we think not, the trumpet of the Lord shall sound; and we shall behold Him, our Savior and Lord.
“Coming again, Coming again,
May be morning, may be noon,
May be evening and may be soon!
O what a wonderful day it will be –
Jesus is coming again!”
Grace and Peace, Rev Ray
