Galatians 5:22-23

“When the Holy Spirit controls our lives, he will produce this kind of fruit in us: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control…”

“When the Holy Spirit Controls Our Lives”

The greatest work of the Holy Spirit is to adorn us for that great day of perfection when we shall be like Jesus. The longer that we walk with God, the more we realize that the Spirit filled life is not all the external things we once may have thought.

We have been around Spirit Filled people all our lives. I pray that you and I can be numbered among them. These are people whose daily life is characterized by meekness and quietness. They submit to the will of God as it comes day by day, moment by moment. They are pliable clay in the Potter’s hands.

Spirit filled saints have a sweetness under provocation and are calm in the storms and bustle of life. They have an insensibility to the slights and affronts that are bound to come.

Worries? Oh yes, they have them too; but they have learned Who to take them to, and where to leave them. Their tears are often the compassion of a heart that weeps for another. They live by the only two rules that matter: “Love God with your everything and love your neighbor as yourself.”

There is a Fruit Market that Pat and I visit often. The fruit is always abundant and good; and the people who work there are consistently kind and helpful. There have been some we never went back to for the opposite reasons. Jesus said that his people would be known by their fruit. Spirit filled Christians always have an abundance of good fruit, and they keep their faith fresh.

“When the Holy Spirit controls our lives, he will produce this kind of fruit in us: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control…” Galatians 5:22-23 Now that sounds a lot like Jesus.

“To be like Jesus, to be like Jesus!
My desire – to be like Him!
All thru life’s journey from earth to glory,
My desire – to be like Him.”

Grace and Peace, Rev Ray
