Isaiah 52:7

Christianity is suffering from a lack of good news. It is not because we do not have an abundance of it; but we seem to have lost the key to the storehouse. I notice how quick we are to hear and tell bad news; and how we can dig into it to learn all the gossip. We excuse this by saying that it is our human nature. We have been created in the image of God whose nature is to bring Good News into the World. Perhaps it is time to get back to our true nature.

This is a grand time for the church to be in existence. “I never was so glad to hear a siren,” a woman said to the ambulance driver. Usually, a siren is not what we want to hear, but when we need help, we thank God for the sound of it coming.

It seems like a lot of us need help these days, so sound the trumpet’ and tell it out my soul, “Jesus saves! Jesus saves!”

“How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, ‘Your God reigns!” (Isaiah 52:7)
