Rev. Regina Shelton’s Testimony

Nine months ago I became seriously ill. I found myself fighting for my life. Two months later, I was approved to be a candidate for a liver transplant. I was placed on medical leave from the two churches I pastor.

I began to look for a place to worship. Shades of Grace had the perfect time for “night owls” 4:00 p.m. This congregation of the United Methodist Church is for all people. It is said to be ministry to the LEAST, LAST, LOST, and LONELY. It ministers to all who are broken.

When I entered to worship for the first time I felt the very Presence of the Holy Spirit. I experienced a freedom to worship or have an encounter with God. I also felt God’s Love in the way everyone expressed His love by loving others including myself.
When I entered I was very broken. I was not homeless and did not need food or clothing like many who enter the doors. I needed deliverance from all the things that were destroying me spiritually.

I had lost my husband four years ago, my mother this year and was dealing with disease that could take my life. Most of all I felt that I was losing my first love, the ministry that God had called me to. Will I preach again? Will I baptize again or celebrate Holy Communion? There were many questions that were leading to doubt not trust in God.

The worship services were composed of testimonies of lives changed. The music was spirited filled and most of all the Word of God was powerful. I joined the ranks of those who came and left changed.

Pastor Will often ask the question “Who have you invited to worship this week?” I invite you to come and worship with us tomorrow. Shades of Grace, 113 Sullivan Street, Kingsport, TN. 4:00 p.m. You will leave differently than when you came!
