Rev. Nate Ware – “Why Praise?”
Psalms 9:1 & 2
1 (To the chief Musician upon Muthlabben, A Psalm of David.) I will praise thee, O LORD, with my whole heart; I will shew forth all thy marvelous works.
2. I will be glad and rejoice in thee: I will sing praise to thy name, O thou most High.
Why do, should, we praise?
Perhaps the most obvious reasons is because of the splendor, the glory, and the majesty of Almighty God, the One who created the heavens and the earth
Psalms 96:4-6
4. For the LORD is great, and greatly to be praised: he is to be feared above all gods.
5. For all the gods of the nations are idols: but the LORD made the heavens.
6. Honour and majesty are before him: strength and beauty are in his sanctuary. and
Psalms 145:3
Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable.
Psalms 48:14
For this God is our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide even unto death.the One who is worthy to be exalted in His holiness.
Isaiah 6:3
And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.
Psalms 196:1-3
1. O sing unto the LORD a new song: sing unto the LORD, all the earth.
2. Sing unto the LORD, bless his name; shew forth his salvation from day to day.
3. Declare his glory among the heathen, his wonders among all people.
The very experience of God’s marvelous acts of grace, especially His salvation in Jesus Christ, is a key reason to praise His Name. In doing so, we thank God in praise for his unfailing mercy, grace and love!
(Psalms 40:1-3; 59:16 – Luke 13:13)
Psalms 40:1-3
1. (To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.) I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.
2. He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.
3. And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.
Psalms 59:16
But I will sing of thy power; yea, I will sing aloud of thy mercy in the morning: for thou hast been my defence and refuge in the day of my trouble.
Luke 13:13
And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.
We also want to thank God for any specific act of deliverance in our lives, such as being rescued from certain harm, or healed from our illnesses.
Psalms 68:19
Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah.
Isaiah 63:7
I will mention the lovingkindnesses of the LORD, and the praises of the LORD, according to all that the LORD hath bestowed on us, and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which he hath bestowed on them according to his mercies, and according to the multitude of his lovingkindnesses.
Finally, the Lord God’s providential care and provision for us day by day, both physically and spiritually, is a powerful reason to praise God and bless His Name.
Human beings are “hard-wired” to praise! It’s our nature. It’s healthy. It’s God’s “good idea” that He inhabits the praises of His people ( ). Why Praise? We can’t help it! We can’t help not praising!!
