Rev. Ray and Pat Amos
This is what the LORD says: “A voice is heard in Ramah, mourning and great weeping, Rachel weeping for her children and refusing to be comforted, because they are no more.” Jeremiah 31:15
Rachel is once again crying for her children. Everyone seems to have answers, yet ignoring the only hope that we have. A great deal of the modern church has taken on the battle for social justice (without seeking the Lord’s face) and has turned it into a divided kingdom. We are wrestling with flesh and blood (one another) because we don’t even know who our enemy is anymore. Some say that we have to do more than pray. Surely there is more that we can do, but first we must pray, and we must pray together, side by side. Things happen when the Family of God is in one accord.
We can disagree on many things and still Love one another. It was Jesus who taught us that. It seems like we Christians do not agree on a lot of things anymore, but we live in the same communities, eat in the same restaurants, shop in the same stores, and surely we can pray together in the same name: “Jesus, Jesus, Jesus.”
John asked, “How can we love God whom we haven’t seen when we can’t even love one another that we do see every day?” We all want the evil and hatred in this world to end. Neither republicans nor democrats can fix it, not conservatives or liberals, not anyone else; this is a problem that only God can fix. As long as we are divided we who have the answer or also a part of the problem.
God said, “If my people (Isn’t that us?) – Who are called by my name (What does Christian mean?) – will humble themselves (drop our stubborn pride) – and turn from their wicked ways (repent of our own sin instead of pointing out everyone else’s) – and PRAY and seek my face. Then I will hear from Heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14
Honestly, how much do we really want things to be better?
