From Pastor Will:
Our faithful online members Penny and Charlotte live in Canada. They are joyfully providing community meals. Penny is from Branford and Charlotte is from Sudbury. Brings back lots of memories to the days I spent preaching throughout the Ontario and Quebec provincial areas. Life is good! God always has a plan.

Our Canadian virtual members have been serving at Shades of Grace this week. Canada observes Thanksgiving Day on October 11. This is their greeting for the Shades friends today. This brings lots of memories to me. One year I observed Thanksgiving 3 different days.. Canada, USA and Trinidad. (They celebrate days of thanksgiving apart from these first two.)
October is Pastor Appreciation Month. Pastor Will was honored by videos and the congregation wishing him the very best and appreciating his visions of ministry to forward service to the THE LAST, LEAST, LOST AND LONELY. Landon and the band had prepared special music to honor Pastor Will’s Ministry. All at Shades of Grace are thankful for all resources, partnerships and communities who help support and facilitate this ministry.
Grace Christian Fellowship Church provided meals after church service. Their Ministry, called Feeding with Grace, feeds mostly the homeless in Huntington, West Virginia. They traveled 5-6 hours from Huntington West Virginia to feed everyone at Shades of Grace and pray with the homeless and everyone, who came for food. A wonderful, deeply appreciated gesture which witnessed to all and inspired so many. Their choir director, Tim, helped with the witnessing in music and song.
The public was invited to the Annual Inurnment and Committal service of persons who passed away with no one to claim them, 16 people this week, 80+ people in all. Procession departed Shades of Grace, 313 E Sullivan Street, at 2:00 p.m. They journeyed to Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery at the Central Heights community (behind Central Heights Elementary School) for a 2:30 p.m. service. This event is a partnership between Immanuel Lutheran , Trinity Memorial Centers and Shades of Grace UMC. Billy took some footage of the area and services and Kingsport Times News wrote an article in the paper.
Check out our new marker. Go to our website for updates and burials. See the QR code on the stone. This year we added a large underground burial vault that will contain cremains for decades to come. One of the works of mercy is to care for the dead who have no one else to care. Our faithful friends and partners in ministry with the least of these help ministries like this continue. God is faithful.
The housing crisis in our area is getting worse because of rising rents and housing prices. Some rents have tripled and many, especially with fixed incomes, can’t keep up. This makes the homeless situation much more prevalent.

We’ve been learning some lessons from St Luke’s gospel. This time we will hear about ten men who were lepers, and how they responded to Jesus’ message. They all heard the message, but each responded in his own way. Come and see just where you stand in the company of these ten men.
Our music is led by Landon Bellamy with congregation friends. There is always opportunity for others to share music and sing. Reach out to Landon at Shades and he will be happy to work you into the schedule. ALL are genuinely welcome to attend in the name of our Lord Jesus.
THANKS AGAIN TO ALL OUR SHADES OF GRACE PARTNERS AND FRIENDS WHO HELP US MINISTER AND SERVE THE LAST, LEAST, LOST AND LONELY. No one person can take credit for all that happens at Shades of Grace.

Another small piece to a very large puzzle in our daily ministry to guests who are currently without shelter. Our mens’ shower facility stays pretty busy..
