From Pastor Will Shewey:

Worship is at Shades of Grace Church – This is a United Methodist Congregation for ALL people. Dress is always casual . We will continue learning lessons from Luke. God will use our tests and messes to serve His Kingdom to witness to others.

A young lady knocked on our door before Steve and I left on Friday. She was in tears and asked to use the phone. She talked with a family member for a lengthy time, out of my hearing, but obviously distraught.

As she left with a bag of snacks, I invited her to worship tomorrow morning. Through tears she said (I paraphrase) ‘Save the invitation for someone better than me. I’m not worthy of coming to God‘ Tears were freely flowing.

I told her we are all unworthy. I asked her to please consider my offer. Don’t know her name. She is homeless. Haven’t seen her until today.

A younger man in his 30’s came to Shades earlier this week. He had just been released from incarceration. We assisted him with birth certificate and backpack. We asked if he needs anything else. As he was leaving, he asked if we by chance have colostomy bags. He requires them and had only one left. He is uninsured.

I called Dr Smiddy and within hours he delivered about 2 months supply. He examined him and contacted a surgeon in his professional circle. Within an hour they already were setting a date for the patient to undergo a reversal procedure that will allow him to no longer need the bags.

Just another testimony of God’s many shades of GRACE!
Psalm 98:4 “Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise.”

It’s amazing how so many wandering souls make their way to our doors every day. Lord, May we be faithful to your call.

Friday Evening:

I’m sitting in my recliner tonight proof reading a rough copy of my soon to publish book “ Reflections from God’s Living Room.”

My prayer will be to bless many with the finished product. It will include real life glimpses into every day life at Shades of Grace. Some of my favorite photos of nature will be included.

I’ll be getting Phyllis Herron to do the final spell check. She has been our dedicated teacher of continuing education at Shades. I appreciate Julie Ware and Jimmy Rogers for helping with format, and our faithful lay leader Steve for challenging me a couple months ago to ‘Do it now. We shall be patient a little longer.

Serving the Last, Lost, Least and Lonely:
Hebrews 13:2 “Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.”

Luke 10:27 “And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.”
