From Pastor Will – The phone was ringing as I arrived a few minutes early at Shades this morning.
A desperate older lady from a neighboring county was on the line. Told me she had called a suicide hotline and was given our number. Long story. We feel some immediate issues are resolved and emergency needs met through our connections.
On a different note, one of the most emergent requests we are continually receiving involves persons/ families who sleep in their cars and are seeking safe and lighted area for overnight parking.
Shades now averages about 70 bag lunches daily and multiple emergency food box requests. Today we served 2 families with 3 small children, and a lady who is currently caring for 10 small children (not all her own). So many long and complicated stories.
