Christ in the Alphabet – “Y”

Good morning. This is Judy. Today we will look at the letter “Y” in our Christ in the Alphabet Devotion series. As I get closer to the end of the Alphabet, it becomes harder to come up with words and/or attributes that describe Christ.

What words come to your mind for the letter Y? A word that comes to my mind is, in Hebrew, “Yeshua” which means Jesus. The word “Yahweh” is another word for “I Am that I Am” – self-existent – Lord Jehovah. Be confident of this: Yahweh is Supreme and His plans are perfect. Great is His name!

Jesus came to us as a babe, grew up as a young man working in his earthly Father’s carpenter shop, and He then began teaching in the temple going about his heavenly Father’s business. Thirty years old was the prescribed age for a priest to begin his ministry. We all need to make our strength available to God’s work while it is still ours – in our youthful years.

Seek and “yearn” for God today. Yearning means to have an intense feeling of longing for something or someone. Do you yearn or long for God to use you for His Kingdom? Then search the Scriptures and ask God: “What do you want me to do for you today?” “Yield” or surrender to His calling upon your life. In Matthew 11:28-30, Jesus says for us to take His “yoke” upon us and learn of Him.

His “yoke” is easy and His burden light. A heavy laden, or yoked person may be burdened with sin, oppression, persecution, or weariness in their search for God. Jesus frees us from all of these burdens. The rest He promises is love, healing, and peace with God. Our work turns into Spiritual productivity and purpose as our relationship with Christ grows. Just say YES to Jesus!!

Let Us Pray

Lord Jehovah, Yahweh, You are ours if we only believe. Help us to yield to your Word as we yearn or long to serve you through the years of our life, both young and old as well. As we come to you and seek rest, may the heavy burdens that we are yoked with be lifted.

Let us say YES, Lord, Here we are, Lord, use us for our Kingdom.
In the name of Jesus, we make our prayer.
AMEN
