A Christian who is grounded in Scripture has rooted him or herself in the Bible. Scripture guides us in sensible and reasonable decisions about life. It lights the pathway when the road is dark and frightening. “Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”
Paul wrote that God desires for us to be grounded in Love. In whatever situation that I may be in today; I know without doubt that I am loved by God. Today, even in my troubles, I can stand upon Christ the Solid Rock.
We are living in testing times, and we had better be grounded in knowing who we are, and who Jesus is. There is a little, but powerful, two letter word that we can only overcome by being firmly planted in Christ. It was the first temptation that Jesus faced after His baptism. He had heard His Father say, “This is my Son…” Then the Devil challenged the Father’s words by saying, “If you are the Son of God…”
The “If” word comes around often. “If you were a Christian you would _____.“ You can fill in the blank with any number of judgmental statements. I know a man that some self-righteous folks judged and hurt. They called him a drunk, and a troublemaker. He wasn’t accepted very well in worship where the leaders were rude and judgmental. He was called a liberal by one side and a fundamentalist by others; He really was neither. This man was kind when others were mean spirited, and he always had a heart of Love. His name is Jesus.
“Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 2:5
“To be like Jesus, to be like Jesus.
All I ask, to be like Him.
All thru life’s journey from earth to glory,
All I ask, to be like Him.”
