“Ray Amos – 11-14-2024 – 1 Corinthians 2:2”

“For I determined to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ, and Him crucified.” 1 Corinthians 2:2

I had been at the new appointment for a short time when I was asked to be interviewed on the local TV station. The person who arranged it wanted the community to meet the new preacher in town. I was also asked if I would promote the church bazaar, which I was happy to do.

All was going well until the interviewer said, “I see that there will be a ‘White Elephant Sale’ during the bazaar, what is that?” (I had no clue). Needing to save the moment, I said, “I really don’t know. I’m sure it’s not a real elephant; but whatever it is, you will enjoy it.”

After an interview of sorts with a group of philosophers, Paul said that from then on, he was determined to stay on one subject: Jesus Christ, and him crucified.

“I want to know Christ!” It is one thing to know about him, but another to know him personally. Because of Christ our sins are forgiven and will be remembered no more. He turns our defeated lives into glorious victories, and when death has knocked on our door; Jesus comes with a 100% cure for death.

When your way is unclear, Jesus says to trust him with all your heart, and he will direct your path. Our Heavenly Father created the world and called it good. Give all your chaos to the Lord and see what he can do. He gives peace in the storm, joy that will outlast sorrow, and hope when everything else says “no.”

We will know many things in this life, but the Bible says that our present knowledge is partial and incomplete. A day is coming when we will know perfectly; and we will know that in all things, God is Love, and Christ is the perfect expression of the Love of God.

“Ask ye what great thing I know,
that delights and stirs me so?
What the high reward I win?
Whose the name I glory in?
Jesus Christ, the crucified.”

Grace and Peace, Rev Ray
