“Ray Amos – 11-4-2024 – Romans 1:16”
From November 4th, 2024

Rev. Ray and Pat Amos

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes…” Romans 1:16

Yesterday I was with the children at the altar when a sweet little girl looked up at the large cross above her and asked, “How does it work?” I keep thinking of the words in the Bible that say, “a little child shall lead them,” and how her question demands an answer from every pastor and church.

The pendulum of history swings back and forth, and I pray how soon we swing back to the kind of noble and holy gospel that is becoming rare. It almost seems to be threatened with extinction. After all these years I can still hear the professor in preaching class saying that if there is no cross, then it is not a sermon.

May God once again give us pulpit giants with a Gospel message burning in their bones, and a “Thus says the Lord” in their mouth. Lifting up Christ draws people to him, and that brings his family together.

Let us once again claim the power of the cross and follow Christ. May the devil tremble because we are alive and telling the story of Jesus and his love.

Dark days are times when the light can do some of its best work. The Power to make that light shine is available; let’s make sure that we are still connected.

“This the power of the cross
Christ became sin for us
Took the blame, bore the wrath
We stand forgiven at the cross.”

Grace and Peace, Rev Ray
