Isaiah 7:25

“As for all the hills once cultivated by the hoe, you will no longer go there for fear of the briers and thorns; they will become places where cattle are turned loose and where sheep run.” Isaiah 7:25

I was walking in the woods where the path seemed clear enough. That is why I can’t figure out what went wrong. How did I get in the mess that I was in? Suddenly, I was surrounded by a briar patch, and I had lost my path. Any way out of this maze was going to be painful.

A good bit of ministry is done in the briar patches of life. The way that we were traveling seemed right but ended up in a mess where there seemed to be no way out.

The Scripture teaches that there is a way that seems right to us, but it ends in destruction. The moral values of our society are spinning like a compass in a room full of magnets. There are folks who are more than willing to show others the path into a harmful and unholy life, but they will not tell you what it is really like when you get there.

I know that it seems a little old fashioned, but the Bible is the one and only trustworthy guide that we have in this life. Sure, it gets abused and misused, but it has been the Book that has given honor and glory to those who have prayerfully used it as a lamp unto their feet, and a light unto their path.

It is not only a guide to a godly life, but it also can direct us out of that bad situation. There are many briar patches on the path ahead, but there is also a hand that knows the way.

“There is an Unseen Hand to me,
That leads through ways I cannot see.
While going through this world below,
This Hand still leads me as I go.

I’m trusting to, the Unseen Hand
That guides me through this weary land
And some sweet day I’ll reach that strand,
Still guided by the Unseen Hand.”

Grace and Peace, Rev Ray
