“Not of This World”

When I was a little girl listening to my Grandmother’s Teachings and Studies of the Bible, she would read and teach about us not being of this world. As a maturing Christian I wondered, “How could I live in this world and not be of it or a part of it?”

Looking at the world now, there are things of this world that appear different then they really are! Videos and photos can be changed by different software programs to make sure the viewer is seeing something that really isn’t there . . . It’s all in order to influence or to trick the mind, mood and eye.

For instance, last night as I was taking photos of the moon, a cloud moved in that made the moon look like Saturn. I could have pulled this into photoshop and changed the photo up to look exactly like Saturn . . . Or I could pull
the image into an action graphic program and made it look like it was moving in ways that would be impossible, not only for the moon, but even for Saturn.

Where am I going with this . . . Daily, I understand more of what it means, “NOT to be of the World.” Even what you see, may not be real. I, personally, find it very hard for the Spirit of God to be upon me, when I am listening to, and prone to be influenced or angered by things of the world.

1 John 4:5 They are from the world and therefore speak from the viewpoint of the world, and the world listens to them.

Leviticus 19:2: “Speak to all the congregation of the sons of Israel and say to them, ‘You shall be holy, for I the LORD your God am holy.”

Ezekiel 36:26 describes the change (NLT): “And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart.”

Luke 11:33-36
33 “No one lights a lamp and puts it in a place where it will be hidden, or under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, so that those who come in may see the light. 34 Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eyes are healthy,[a] your whole body also is full of light. But when they are unhealthy,[b] your body also is full of darkness. 35 See to it, then, that the light within you is not darkness. 36 Therefore, if your whole body is full of light, and no part of it dark, it will be just as full of light as when a lamp shines its light on you.”

When Jesus came back to Nazareth and read in the Synagogue . . . He opened everyone’s eyes, even and especially, the hearing of the Word and the Spirit therein, a new revealing of Who He was . . . And of His Godly and eternal presence. The rock of our salvation.

Luke 4:18
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and the regaining of sight to the blind, to set free those who are oppressed”

Isaiah 61:1 King James Version (KJV)
“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;”
