Proverbs 17:6 NLT

“Grandchildren are the crowning glory of the aged; parents are the pride of their children.”

Today our granddaughter will graduate from college. Where has time gone? It is said often that we should enjoy our children because they grow up quickly. Those words always prove to be true.

What are the things that really matter in life? Everyone has a cause these days. We all have things that we think are of upmost importance. Jesus said something to His friend Martha that He could say to many of us: “You are busy with many things, but one thing is mindful.” That is for us to sit together as friends and family at His feet, and learn of Him.

The people and things that are truly important to us may not be the ones that are getting our attention. We get only one shot with this life. Let’s keep regrets at a minimum. The hug that we don’t have time for today will not be back around. The flowers that we will smell as soon as we get done with what we are doing will have faded when we get to them.

They were on vacation when their little girl cried, “Mom, Dad! I have something to show you.” As they typed away on their phone they said to her, “We will be there in a minute.” Thirty minutes later they found her with tears in her eyes sitting on the beach beside what was left of a message that had been written on the sand. Swept out into the eternity of the ocean’s wave were the words, “I Love You!”

“The sands of time are sinking,
The dawn of Heaven breaks;
The summer morn I’ve sighed for,
The fair, sweet morn awakes:
Dark, dark hath been the midnight,
But dayspring is at hand,
And glory, glory dwelleth
In Immanuel’s land.”

Grace and Peace, Rev Ray
