Isaiah 41:10
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
It seemed like the GPS had forsaken us. There were some uneasy moments as we found ourselves on a narrow mountain road that sometimes seemed like it was not a road at all. It sure was a good feeling to finally come out on a familiar four lane highway. “Thank you, Jesus,” was our prayer.
Few will recognize this song from the past: “The road of life is rough and long, but we will help each other over.” It is true. We will not get home on a smooth highway. There are some scary and dangerous places along the way. We travel through valleys, crawl over a few precipices, and rejoice on the mountain tops.
Then, there are those impossible places, those old swinging bridges that require every ounce of faith that we can muster up. We step on the creaking boards with a “Why me Lord,” and then we take each step saying, “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.”
Somewhere in the middle of that bridge a transformation often takes place. Fear becomes courage as trembling saints get nearer to the other side. I have witnessed this so many times over the years. When the way is one that we do not want to go; grace takes our hand, and we walk on.
I believe that nothing is impossible with God. I also believe that “God will take care of us, through everyday, over all the way. “
“Precious Lord, take my hand
Lead me on, let me stand
I’m tired, I’m weak, I’m lorn
Through the storm, through the night
Lead me on to the light
Take my hand, precious Lord
Lead me home.”
