Experiencing Fresh Faith
“Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.” Psalm 25:5
Experiencing Fresh Faith – I do not pour hot coffee in a cup that already has some cold coffee left in it. The old coffee must go or the fresh will not be fresh. That is a good philosophy for our Christian living also.
The Lord refuses lukewarm faith and so can we. One of the greatest enemies to learning new things can be the things we already know. Every now and then we must unlearn the stale so we can experience the fresh and new that the Lord is doing.
When I was a young boy on the mountain, overturning rocks often led to a new adventure. You never knew what critter you might find. It is still an adventure to overturn stones of discovery, even when we think we already know what is beneath them. How many Bible verses and stories do we pass by with a glance because we already know what is under the rock. Turn it over and see what we might have overlooked before.
It is a wonderful adventure to discover treasures hidden in a field full of undiscovered truths (the Bible). The Lord put them there for us to find if we are willing to dig.
We can be having the time of our life studying the old story of Jesus and His love. Why should our faith be stale and lukewarm when there is a fountain of crystal water flowing from the throne of God. It is early morning, pour a nice hot cup of fresh coffee and dig in the pages of God’s Word.
“New mercies, each returning day,
surround your people as they pray:
new perils past, new sins forgiven,
new thoughts of God, new hopes of heaven.”
Grace and Peace, Rev Ray
