“Ray Amos – Isaiah 52:7”
From February 9th, 2024

Rev. Ray and Pat Amos

Loved ones were away at war, and the battle was getting closer to home. There was no communication of any kind, except for the occasional rumor. You tried to keep the faith but worry and wait seem to travel together.

Then it happens one day. You first hear a distant voice yelling something. A messenger from the battlefield is coming. You nervously wait as he comes down the mountain and across the valley. What news does he bring?

He shouts, “Our God reigns! We have the victory! The soldiers are coming home!”

“How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of the messenger who brings good news, the good news of peace and salvation, the news that the God of Israel reigns!” Isaiah 52:7

Child of God, what struggles are you up against today? Are you free from the guilt and the shackles of sin? So many people are fighting an old battle that is already over. If they only would believe.

“It is finished, the battle is over.

It is finished, there’ll be no more war.

It is finished, the end of the conflict.

It is finished, and Jesus is Lord.”

Preacher, shout it out and proclaim it with power from the pulpit that the debt of sin is paid, let the people sing the joyful song:

“Jesus saves, Jesus saves;
Shout salvation full and free,
Highest hills and deepest caves,
This our song of victory,
Jesus saves, Jesus saves.”

Dear Lord, the church’s feet are dusty and worn from the paths of this world. Please, wash them again so that we may wear our Gospel shoes, and run the race with good news to tell: Satan is defeated, Christ is the victorious one, Our God reigns! The saints are marching home.

Grace and Peace, Rev Ray
